This recent DIN specification replaced the old SW 2000 hose layer. On a 16 ton chassis with a crew cab, the rear section contains the two thousand meters of 75 mm hose, while the central compartment containing a portable pump with suction hoses as well as hose fittings and miscellaneous other equipment. Like the old hose layer, these units are also 4X4, to be able to support hose relays in rural environments if necessary. They should not to be confused with the GW-L, which does not normally have any pre-loaded items, but is designed to accommodate standard wheeled baskets, each of which may have any of a wide range of special equipment or supplies.
