Volvo-Rosenbauer TTL60?

I missed the moment. This ladder was making its final departure from the Rosenbauer-Metz factory Karlsruhe on the 9th of December 2022. Quite a monster which will travel to the City of Mumbai.

It does seem that Indian city fire services do unfortunately rely on giant aerials to respond to high rise building fires, which do occur surprisingly often and are associated with frequent multiple fatalities. There are several other examples of these Indian monsters on this site, as well as others supplied to various cities.

The reality is that in practice they are very rarely an adequate alternative to building in adequate building practices.

In the US, and many other civilized countries, fatal high rise fires are practically unknown because of effective building and fire safety codes - and major city fire services rarely bother to acquire aerials much over 30 meters, because they are simply not needed.

I wonder if this is a 64 metre like London's or higher?

Added by Grant Melville on 24 December 2022.
Like the new London giants, these do require a very long and rather cumbersome chassis, which is pretty tricky to thread through city traffic and often too hard to position near enough the burning structure to be truly effective, not to mention the time needed for set up and to move the elevator to the top. London has three, covering an area of 607 square miles, with high rises in many different areas of the city, so the presence of these extra tall ladders is unlikely to be anything other than a partial response to the danger of more residential high rise fires - until and unless new London building and fire codes actually produce changes to all of the structural and fire safety issues which occurred at the disastrous Grenfell tower fire. Cladding was by no means the only problem.

London Fire Brigade reportedly is implementing all 28 recommendations which were made by the investigators for changes in operation procedures, including actually training their personnel in high rise firefighting tactics, But it remains to be seen how much progress is going to be made in modifying the numerous other existing firetraps into safe places to live.

I couldn't find any details yet, it must be now shipped by barge on the Rhine River to a harbour and then to India!

This is a Metz, the London ones were built by Magirus.

Mid 70' Strasbourg like Paris acquired a 45m TTL, however to plan its operation special drivers and operators had to be dispatched over 3 shifts and this 24h 365d, the TTL wasn't manned at all times. Not to forget the city's numerous small streets, special plans had to be elaborated to go from A to B!
