Owner then D Hall of Reading. It spent some
time on the Oxford Bus Museum, but was then moved to a farm barn somewhere near Oxford and it was still there 2019 apparently.

Like Cambridge, Oxford had this compact pump with a 45 foot ladder, to be able to access upper floors and roofs in ancient college courts where neither a wheeled escape nor any turntable ladder could fit. Cambridge had the first Dennis F8 to fill this role, also backed up by a compact Bedford pump with a conventional 39 foot wood extension ladder. Both cities also had a PE, TL and ET.

These “gut buster” ladders were never very popular with crew members, because they were very heavy and unwieldy - but on occasions when they were needed, there was really no alternative!

Ed: Here is the Cambridge F8
