This generation placed three of the five crew members inside the medical compartment along with the stretcher, which was not ideal.

It also meant that the patient had to be loaded in the side door, then turned around - which was rather awkward. Both problems were solved in the later designs, which had a full factory crew cab and the stretcher compartment accessible from the rear, but with its own side door too.
