Baby Bedford at Netley Fire show 1990. This is ex Denbighshire and Montgomeryshire joint FB. Then Clwyd from 1974. It was preserved then but I am not sure it is still around as there seem to be no later photos around on the internet. The Bedford J4 were a pig to drive as the gear stick was so far back it was nearly in the crew cab.

The J4 was originally designed as a normal control chassis, and modified quite extensively when used as a forward control fire tender.

The modifications apparently did not include a remote gear change linkage, which would have been normal on a forward control chassis designed from the ground up, such as the TK.
