Quite an advanced design for its year, but - like other similar examples in other countries - it was possibly too expensive to have ever been very successful. Both its design and history remind me of the Australian Varley Commander, which was also a very advanced custom design - but too costly to be very successful and was not in production for long. Unlike Varley, though, Rosenbauer had a huge market for conventional truck chassis based units in Austria, Switzerland and Germany and abroad - and has grown into one of the largest international fire truck manufacturers with factories in several countries.
Rosenbauer are also of course the first to have introduced hybrid electric fire pumpers, around a dozen of which are now in service in various countries.
