These 7.2 ton GVW trucks have replaced old Mercedes Vario 8 ton GVW pumpers in several countries, now that the Vario has been out of production for a few years.

Just as with the Varios, specifications vary widely, but I believe most have a 1,000 to 2,000LPM pump, a tank around 1,000 litres and a 5/6 person crew cab.

BMPM in Marseille operate several of these, but limit the crew to three. They only attend structure fire calls in conjunction with additional units, as - like many other fire services worldwide - they only operate at interior structure fires with a minimum of four personnel to be able to implement the "two in, two out" SOP. They do operate alone to respond to AFAs, outdoor urban fires and a wide range of general service alarms.
