I have seen quite a few fire videos of structure fires here in the US, where roof monitors ("deck guns" in US terms) were used to great effect as the initial attack, as well as a few from Germany, where they are also quite common on pumpers, but not universal as the are here. I am a bit surprised they were never very popular in the UK, and the few brigades which used to have them seem to have discontinued fitting them. One often useful tactic is to "dump the tank". Just as in the UK, most US pumpers have an 1800 litre water tank. Properly applied, at a rate of around 1000 LPM, even this tiny quantity of water can achieve dramatic results.
