Excellent angle photo! Not often we get to see how items are stored on the roof of fire trucks. This example demonstrates very clearly the ladder and monitors carried on this 4000 litre water tender, as well as the hose ramps. They are a very common type of unit in Germany, responding to structure fires as well as outdoor incidents. They have both class A and B foam, and many have a CAFS installation. They can operate as independent self-contained mobile firefighting platforms in outdoor and defensive structural modes and as a supply source at interior attack incidents where access to hydrants or static water is a problem.

Some cities also operate the GTLF on 6X6 chassis with a 10, 000 liter tank, but these are much less common.
