Dresden has one HLF10 at each of their five full time stations, along with a HLF20 at each one. Together with a 23/12 TTL and a command van, this constitutes the standard structure fire response (with 16 firefighters) - although a fire service ambulance also usually responds too. Another three HLF10 are located at some of the additional 21 volunteer stations, while others have LF10, LF/HLF 20 or older LF8 pumpers. In addition to the ten full time pumps, there are a total of 25 of these various types staffed by volunteers. They also provide crews for three additional TTLs, three tankers, a hose layer and a hazmat decontamination unit.

The other command units, rescue trucks, specials, ambulances, pods and pod carriers plus administrative, logistics and support units are all at the five full time stations. Station 2 at Ubigau has no less than 30 vehicles and 16 pods, but all four of the other full time locations have extensive fleets of between seven and thirteen units. Most of the newer trucks are MAN, with both Mercedes and Iveco-Magirus among the older ones.

Dresden has also become one of only a few German cities to buy Scania chassis trucks, including five DLK last year and one very impressive four axle heavy rescue truck (picture 42706). Other German cities with Scanias include Karlsruhe and Hamburg - but everywhere else they are few and far between. Examples of their Scania trucks are also on this site...
