The 8 ton GVW chassis was a standard commercial light duty D Series and not one of the SVO fire service chassis, which had a GVW of 10 to 16 tons.

Several fire brigades bought standard commercial chassis for a variety of special purpose support units, and there are quite a few examples on this site in addition to pumps, aerials and at least one ET.
