This could be a de-icer rather than a fire tender given the orange light and snow plough. Any views? Chassis type? Does anybody know this machine?

Looks like a WWII vintage Bedford Q series, ex army surplus.

These were not originally 4X4, so this may have been a conversion - or else the chunky tyres are just chunky tyres!

Looks like a Bedford QL

This is a Bedford QL water tanker. I very strongly suggest it is JUY 730 at Blackpool Airport. The vehicle has been preserved but without the tank/pump etc which is a shame. I have pictures of it showing the orange light, but they are not my originals. This is a superb picture.

My mistake. These were all 4x4 from the start, originally designed as such in 1940 and as a result the first in service with British forces.

Looks like small Coventry-Climax demountable pump on the back.

Dates from the days before blue lights but no real need for them on a runway.
