Unusually, the monitor, hose and flexible tubing to connect the fixed upper section piping to the monitor are all stored on the ladder and turret.

Not sure this speeds up setting up as a water tower, but it does make it easier for everybody to see where everything is stored!

German TTL manufacturers do not seem too keen to add fixed underslung piping to their equipment, so that everything is pre plumbed and ready to go for water tower operations, but this is a feature of a lot of similar units in North America these days.

Andy: Yes, a full stretch of traditional 75mm steel alloy piping to supply a 2000 LPM cage or ladder monitor would probably add around 300 pounds or 140 KG to the weight of a 30 metre ladder. But it still seems to me that the use of modern extremely strong lightweight materials like carbon fibre piping might facilitate a more rapid quick connect pre-plumbing solution, without compromising the ladder's functionality in any of its other roles. 30 meters of 75mm carbon fibre piping would for example weigh only around 100 pounds, a third of a similarly dimensioned steel pipe, although it would of course be more expensive.

Andy: You may have noticed that London's newest 62 meter ladder towers do have a piped waterway extending all the way up to their cages. It seems progress is possible!
