This Rolls Royce may remind some of you of a Matchbox model fire engine of a Rolls Royce for Borough Green & district fire brigade in Kent. I discovered that it was bodied by a company called Bonallack in East London. I wrote up the story here:

You may be interested to learn that there was once a Rolls Royce fire engine in service on Long Island New York. The firm actually had a factory in the USA for a period, and a wealthy lady bought one, and then donated it to her local volunteer fire company after a period of time, when it was converted into a pumper! I have seen a photo of it but unfortunately I have no clue where it is now!

There are another two Swiss RR fire appliances which regularly turn up at Swiss vintage fire truck musters, as well as a pair of Cadillac limousines which seem to be from the same time period.

One of the Rolls is a full fire appliance conversion but the other is a very lightly modified limousine like this example.

Petros, you say in your Rolls-Royce fire engine write-up that Bedford TK 190 LHY of Bristol FB was bodied by Bonnalack. Surely this was an HCB product under serial 623. Comments?

Ed: I was relying on the description given by the provider of that photo on Flickr. It may well be wrong. It certainly looks like HCB bodywork. I imagine Bristol Bob will be able to put us right. Link to Flickr is here

It's certainly on Aidan Fisher's HCB database as serial 623.

I can confirm that the Bristol Bedford was HCB.
I was suprised that I did not have the information so I asked Aidan Fisher, the "go to"man for everything HCB.
