This Mercedes L319 van series was built between 1950 and 1965, and was probably the most popular LF8 light pump variant.It was relatively cheap, straightforward and could be driven on a passenger car licence. The crankshaft driven pump could pump a good 800 LPM at 10 AT, it had seats for nine crew, and carried a basic compliment of 52mm and 75mm hoses, various tools and hose fittings and and eight meter ladder. If there was a nearby hydrant or open water source, it could handle quite a decent blaze all by itself.

Almost every one of Germany's >20, 000 volunteer fire companies had an LF8, and a great many were these L319s.
