With a choice of petrol or diesel 5.2 litre six cylinder engines the U55 was introduced in 1953 and made until 1967. With a 93 BHP engine and a GVW of 9.3 tons, it seems that its rate of progress with a full 3, 500 litre water tank would probably have been very modest! It was also almost certainly well overweight. The chassis was also used for pump, water tender and TTL applications, including a very stylish Heuliez bodied Drouville water tender, which is illustrated on this site.
