Bedford open pump Horwich Lancashire

apparently not on the list of fire engines transferred to Lancashire in 1948 so a bit of a mystery. May have been with the locomotive works locally according to Norman Price, the local expert.

Appears to be a hosereel tender, it has a towing hitch so could tow a trailer pump. It has what appears to be a council crest certainly not an LMS one.

This is WH 7800 new to Horwich Urban District Council in 1937. Contrary to the caption it did pass to the Lancashire County Fire Brigade in 1948 as an ATV and was sold out of service in 1955. Information in the booklet "Fire Appliances of Lancashire County Fire Brigade 1948 to 1974" which I recommend !
