York City had a similar A series ET, but these were not very popular with public fire brigades. Most - perhaps all - of the A series pump appliances which were built were bought by factory brigades, as there did not seem to be much appetite for smaller units like these among public brigades in the UK.

The same happened in other European countries, where compact pumpers were quite popular - because of access problems for full size trucks - including Germany, France and Italy. But Ford's inability to penetrate these public fire services was mainly because they were already well served by Opel, Mercedes, Renault, Saviem, Fiat and OM respectively!

The Home Office JCDD specifications did not really envisage a compact pump appliance, although a lot of Land Rovers ad a few Austin Gypsy 4X4 utilities were of course adapted as L4P appliances...
