The Luton head was where the bunk was located above the cab to guarantee it would be easy to sell to a moving company after it had finished its term on the fire brigade fleet, as well as to comfortably accommodate any tired firemen at an incident.

BTW South Yorkshire stopped using horses a few years before this CU was purchased...
