Fire brigades were often guilty of seriously overloading Land Rovers and Range Rovers - and piling extra items on the roof only added to the existing handling problems these vehicles had with their high center of gravity.
My local brigade, Darlington, ran two - including one with a front PTO driven compressor for air tools - but rarely crammed them with much gear, although the other one occasionally towed a light trailer pump.
