DBP 12G was new to Worthing in Summer 1969 (a few weeks before I was born in the town) delivered in Coventry Yellow, the first appliance for West Sussex in this yellow livery and first in a long line of Dennis appliances for the brigade (if you don't count the 4 Dennis F8s delivered in the 1950s). It moved to Haywards Heath when that station was absorbed into West Sussex with the boundary changes in 1974, and finally to retained crewed 3rd WTL at Crawley as shown in this picture. If anyone can confirm which year it was repainted yellow to red I would be grateful. It served at Crawley until 1983, had a year in the reserve Fleet before being sold in December 1984 and scraped with about 30, 000 miles on the clock. The L4T alongside should be TCR 358T.

Jon, I thought West Sussex had 6 Dennis F8s:
PBP137/199, SBP136, UPX174/293, VPX 782.
I thought that DBP 12G only got Crawley in 1983, and went for disposal from there in 1984; it was repainted to red 12/1977,
the moves at Haywards Heath I thought were:
LOW303R Dennis R130 WRL(1), DBP12G to WRL(2), SNJ110G Bedford/HCB WRT to Burgess Hill, then in 1983 KCR588Y to WRL(1) Haywards Heath, TCR352T Dennis R133 WRL(1) to WRL(2), DBP 12G to Crawley, replace VPO 701N Dennis D to Reserve, unless you
know different?

Martyn, yes of course 6 West Sussex F8s - not sure why I typed 4! I'm sure you are correct with your dates, I've cobbled my Crawley & Haywards Heath research together from various bits of info - I knew DBP 12G was there in 1983, but was not 100% certain when it replaced somewhat newer VPO 701N, so thank again. One more question LOW303R was withdrawn a few years before the other 4 "R" reg appliances, any particular reason, i.e RTC damage - I have a picture of it semi dismantled at workshops on April 9th 1992.

DBP12G was yes new to Worthing and delivered in the yellow livery, it was transferred to Haywards Heath in 1974 following county boundary changes and was soon re-liveried red. This appliance remained at Haywards Heath as 1st then second pump until 1983 and was then transferred to Crawley as third pump (retained) until 1984 then went out of service.

Thank you for the information Mr West - I thought that may be it..rather too many R series seemed to have ended their lives in RTCs in West Sussex..3 I think in total the others being TCR350T and 353T, and yes indeed XOT160V was on of my favorites.
