1980s North eastern/Grampian brigade had a policy of not painting fire appliances so they were left in aluminium. Rural county and paint scratched by narrow roads. This picture looks like back of Rochdale fire station, the GMC museum.

I believe this was scrapped a few years ago..

Its a pity the brigade had never heard of rubbing compound, so they could have painted it.

I always thought their appliances were nearly invisible, as their grey color blended so well with the local stone buildings, fields and leaden skies...
