A correction to my previous post. Cardiff did not have an ERF ET.

Both thus and the Sunderland ERF have the kind of checkering on the roof which used to designate an ICU.

Did these start out with a dual role as both an ET and ICU or were they "repurposed" during their service lives?

The CFO from Rochdale later took up the position of CFO in Sunderland and took his ideas with him to his new job and Sunderland then changed to ERF appliances with the same livery
