Those rubber mudguards on the back axle look like a really good idea!

The standard steel ones protruded well outside the body sides on this generation of Transit, with its twin rear wheels, and Ford Parts Division sold an awful lot of replacements.....

All Ford Motor Company's own vehicles were Essex registered, as the corporate headquarters were in Brentwood, Essex.

The company had its own fire trucks at its Dagenham, Southampton, Halewood, Basildon and Langley factories as well as at the Dunton research and product planning center. Transits were also used as fire tenders at Ford of Europe factories in Germany, Belgium and France.
