The HCB-Angus split tilt crew cab water tender depicted in photo 43213 on this site was a design which integrated the coachbuilt crew cab with the D series tilting factory cab in a much more stylish fashion than these Carmichael bodies and the almost identical CFE ones.

After tilt cabs were introduced - first by AEC and Ford - fire appliance builders often struggled to integrate them. The earliest HCB Angus bodies on eleven D series for Gloucestershire built in 1966 were indeed quite hideous, as illustrated by many examples on this site....
