Dennis factory open day
Here we see the radiator mascot on the factory 1914 Dennis 'N' Type fire engine surveying the scene at the Dennis factory open day this September. The Dennis factory is now joined with the Alexander company who produce bus bodies. A large proportion of the ouput of the Dennis factory at Guildford is now bus chassis and these go to Alexanders for the body to be fitted. The fire engines are produced at Guildford as Chassis-Cabs and these then go to be body built with companies like JDC (John Dennis Coachbuilders) who happen to be just down the road.

John, The factory open day on Saturday was an informal affair hosted by a very enthisiastic Andy Boulton who is Sales manager for all chassis produced at Guildford, so his remit covers both bus and fire. I will post some more pictures tomorrow.

no point in posting pictures as they have pretty much closed down appliance production, i e-mailed dennis to ask politely what the future held and i didn't get a reply (twice)

I was speaking to the Sales Director, and he has informed me that there are no plans to recommence production of the Dennis Sabre or Dennis Dagger either now, or in the future as Scanias and Volvos are cheaper to build. The Sabre will be sorely missed.
