THW (Technische Hilfswerke) is a nationwide German civil defense organization, which is very well equipped to deal with a wide variety of disaster scenarios including explosions, collapse incidents, floods, storm damage and suchlike.
They work hand in glove with fire services, and often attend incidents together.
All of their vehicles are painted this shade of bright blue with white stripes, and they have the blue lights and air horns which are standard on all German emergency services' vehicles.
