Same fire in Darlington in 1974 showing Durham's HP in action alongside the Firemaster TL I think Darlington's HP was around the other side having been deployed before the arrival of Durham's HP on the make up !

Darlington ran both the Firemaster Magirus TL and an ERF HP for several years alongside each other, which was rather unusual for a town of only 100, 000.

The TL was acquired in 1960 to replace a Dennis chassis Morris Magirus 27 meter mechanical ladder dating from 1938. It was one of only two ever built, and the other - which went to Wolverhampton - was a TLP. The Snorkel was a 1967 unit, built with a Cummins instead of a Perkins engine, because Cummins had a factory in Darlington. This made it a unique build too!
