This type of gold leaf logos, lettering, coach lining and decoration is a dying art, even here in the US.

But some manufacturers still do it, especially Pierce, who take pride in offering hand painted liveries on everything they build at no extra charge!

Many departments continue to think that elegant liveries promote pride in the minds of the firefighters who ride them, In addition, some individual fire companies also add their own logos, mottos and/or badges. FDNY has a lot of such examples on this site...
