Once, in around 1962 I saw six appliances turn out together from this wonderful station!

Never saw anything like it before or since, nor do I think I ever will again.

It all happened very fast - too fast to identify everything...but I do remember a lot of very shiny red paint and a lot of noise.

Many contributors to the site tell us they will never make any more new fire appliances like they used to. It is certainly also true that no-one will ever build fire stations like this again!

Do any Manchester fire brigade buffs know what used to be stationed here in or around 1962? it might jog my memory...
