Avons first Ariel Rescue Pump

Avon Scania P320/JDC/Vema ARP WX58 BMO on display at Clevedon fire station open day on September 5th 2015. This appliance is currently stored at workshops in Avonmouth, having been new to Patchway replacing the 2nd pump there, before moving to Speedwell, and then being stored when Speedwell closed in 2014. The bodywork and Vema platform/ladder are due to be removed in due course and the chassis cab re used to build a new appliance - provisionally a haz mat unit. Avon has decided that their two ARPs do not have a future with the Brigade and the newer ARP appliance at Bedminster is planned to be withdrawn next year, provisionally being sold to a buyer abroad.

Sounds as if the waste and incompetence of senior fire officers throughout the UK is never ending when it comes to this type of appliance?

Any progress on the 1st ones conversion to a new appliance is it a hazmat?

Nice appliances but asking too much of a single vehicle. Trying to be a multi tool

Neil, the info regarding the Hazmat was slightly wide of the mark, both Scania ARPs had their bodies booms and ladders removed, this one was sold as a chassis cab, and newer of the pair, KX10 EOY was used to form the base for a new Welfare unit, which is now based at Avonmouth, having replaced Renault Welfare Unit N602 MHY earlier this year.

Sounds as if the principal welfare recipients were the companies that built and supplied these rather costly white elephants...
