A large 3 cylinder Shand Mason horse drawn steam fire engine. Seen during 60th anniversary of Dutch Railway enthusiasts association in Amsterdam, 5th October 1991.

Firemen in those days must have had to spend many hours on each watch just polishing and lubricating these magnificent pumpers!

We see a lot of nostalgia on these pages at times, but I am pretty sure the people who spent so many countless hours maintaining these would not mourn their passing...
