See also #5325. ERF / Simon Snorkel PFD 777F outside Brierley Hill Fire Station shortly after delivery to the County Borough of Dudley. The works of Simon Snorkel were in Dudley too so probably fitting that the local Borough had one of their machines. Photo taken Spring 1968.

This has an oddly extended custom crew cab, quite a bit longer than the factory crew cab, which already had space for five.
I cannot imagine a county borough like Dudley running a Snorkel with more than five - indeed most towns this size rarely ran with more than one or two.

As I said, Simon were based in Dudley so it's possible that the machine was a special or demonstrator and obtained at less than market rate, which might explain the larger cab. See also #38551 which is colour and has a better photo of the cab. For comparison, see also #40840.
