Leyland Cub FOX 658

Photograph taken between January and March 1967 in a yard, probably in the Dudley area, around the time of the machines withdrawl from service. This Leyland Cub Wheeled escape FOX 658 had served at Dudley Fire Station as Fleet No 1 from sometime in 1940s and was replaced by Leyland LAD Comet LFD 838E.

This Leyland Cub F7T1 was delivered new to the Dudley County Borough Fire Brigade in May of 1942.

My friend owns this now and it is being restored but thwarted somewhat by the pump deliveries being stolen two months ago.

Sorry to hear about thefts but really pleased to hear that the machine still exists and is being restored. I'd like to know what happened to it between 1967 and now, if possible, too.

It has been in store in Bedfordshire for over twenty years until rescued last August but part of the machine was in the open so there was quite a bit of deterioration. It has now been stripped to the chassis. Stand by for some photos.
