Interesting you should say about the off roading. My Dad bought that very vehicle (Q702 OVL) in 1990 and spent about 4 years carrying out a full mechanical restoration. Unfortunately almost all of the original bodywork had been lost and the front was badly corroded due to years of salt water exposure on Skeggy beach.

A whole new body was built and it was put on the road in 1994 then used for roughly 12 years as a full-on off roader. Much fun was had and it excelled, being far more capable than the heavier Stalwart - the Wilson pre-selector helped a lot with making progress off road. It eventually was put onto an age related number plate - DAS 623.

Changing circumstances meant that Dad needed a tractor so in a sentimental move (wanting to keep the vehicle he worked so hard to restore) he put a Renault Midliner diesel engine in it. He got it running and driving then again a further change in circumstances meant he had to sell it quickly. It went to an FV600 collector up near Manchester somewhere and I haven't seen it since. Such a shame as my childhood revolved around that vehicle in one way or another!

Would also be nice to see a pic of it 'in action' on Skegness beach, wonder if there are any ?
