August 1, 2007 -- Minneapolis Engine-1, a 2004 Spartan/General, stands idles as its crew is involved in search and rescue. The MFD
employs 450 firefighters and paramedics who staff 18 engines, 5 aerials and 2 heavy rescue units. Across the river, the St Paul Fire Department has 444 members who operate 17 engines, 7 aerials, 11 ALS units and 2 heavy rescues squads.

Positioning the (mandatory) deck gun at the rear is unusual on an American pumper. It is almost always installed amidships just above the pump, even when the control panel is transverse, as it is here.
