Belgium does not have any domestic truck manufacturers, so fire services buy their vehicles from all over Europe.
But this Czech Tatra is very unusual, as most Belgian fire services bought units from Austria, Germany, Sweden, The Netherlands, France and occasionally Italy in recent years.
But it was an excellent choice!
These tandem axle tankers with 8, 000 liter tanks were exceptional and widely used in central and eastern European countries, with an enviable reputation for ruggedness and off-road capabilities.
