2007 Sutphen SL 75 Quint

This rig has it all! A Cummins ISM 450 Horsepower power plant moves it down the street through an Allison EVS 4000 transmission. Firefighting goodies include Waterous CSU 2000 GPM Pump, 450 Gallon Water Tank, Williams ATP 500 Foam System Class A and B, 20 Gallon Class A Foam Tank and 30 Gallon Class B Foam Tank.

In addition to the 75 foot platform, Ladder 77 carries a full compliment of ground ladders, including a 16 foot straight ladder mounted at the tip of the platform. The "RIT" center cabinet indicates that the crew is trained as a Rapid Intervention Team -- the guys who go in when the other guys can't find their way out!

Wow, one "busy" Truck.

Again, for the Officials and Builders in the UK - this is the size that you will have to go to for a successful CARP, ARP, Fire Appliance.

The classic Sutphen mid mount tower quint! Very popular in small town volunteer fire departments, especially on the Easr Coast, because it is so versatile. The first few members to respond can tackle most types of calls with this unit.

In days gone by. when volunteers tended to live and work close to the fire station, larger numbers of personnel could respond quickly and there was no problem manning a ladder truck and a pumper or even two pumpers. Now, almost everybody has to respond by car, and staffing the first unit to turn out becomes critical - in terms of both numbers and what they can get done at the incident scene.
