See photo #38074 - this survives under cover in Flint North Wales owned by James Jones, a local firefighter. He also has 2 TLs in his back garden shed.
First and only time I have seen whitewalls on a British fire engine! They were practically universal among French fire services from the thirties into the sixties, but not that common anywhere else.
Clive: Must have been interesting! I imagine it was quite a lot harder work than the more modern units, and a lot less fun in the winter, or when it was raining.Did the crew members take turns riding on this open appliance, as I can only imagine that it was not very popular?
