Good unusual shot John. Bournemouth central had the longest single drop of 5 floors at 47 feet.

Most of Chicago older fire houses are only two floors, so I don't imagine that when the pole was first introduced anyone imagined a five floor drop!

If they had, then perhaps the whole idea might have been dropped...

If you Google old fire station Bournemouth you will see what I mean .
The two bays on the left and front door was the original part opening in 1903. The two right hand bays war added in the 1930s.
The pole which is still in situ is centre of building at the back.
