See picture 30416. This 1986 Hino was surveyed and found to be grossly overweight and immediately withdrawn from service. It was photographed in February 2014 parked up. It has been replaced by an ex New Zealand Fire Service Hino while a decision is made as to whether a custom built replacement will be ordered.

Do you mean it was overloaded? This happens quite often when fire services keep adding equipment that take the chassis way beyond its design weight. It affects acceleration, tire wear, fuel consumption, handling and braking to the degree that the truck can become downright dangerous.

Unfortunately, it does seem to be a common problem, unless features like water tanks and equipment loads are specifically scheduled and standardized. The German approach to itemize literally everything carried on the vehicle according to a DIN standard is probably the best example of how to avoid the overloading problem...
