Fire Engines Photos

I have just read donnys write up on this and I who;eheartidly agree , this appliance in this photograph was sold off and no longer on the run , its a disgrace , it is still a good modern appliance with euro spec engine , stainless steel cab and the body looks in very good condition , I have seen these in ireland and they cannot get enough of them , as for spares it is constructed using proprierty engines/gearboxes/pump etc so a mild workover nad hey presto ten more years of valuable and reliable use at a rural or queter station and with regular check I can see no issues whatsoever apart from people wanting the latest/trendier/european of course cab which will be no better than the one above , maybe quieter but that isnt a problem with some sound deadining round the engine compartment , look at it , it is easy to get in , plenty room , easy to see out of , fast , safe , corrossion resistant and reliable , what on earth are we doing!

I know that it is easy to be biased, but I am sure there are many more who would agree with your sentiments. The Sabre and Rapier look every ihch of what a modern fire appliance should look like despite the design being almost 20 years old. You have a beautiful machine!

Hi , have a good look at this appliance especially the younger or newer fire fighters , note th elow wide steps to th eroomy back cab which in th eex long was designed for ten firefighters but normally carried only 4/5 , are you lucky enough to have so much rooom to store your kit and it being so easy to get in and out of , does the new appliances handle as well or go so fast , do they handle and brake as well , are they as rust resistant and long lasting yet still look as fresh as the day they were made ?have the newer appliances as much locker room and as good a system for storage , not likely !!!!

Hi I now own s362 dok and its a total pleasure to drive to shows and a total head spinner/ the only mod I am going to do is cover in the open pump at the back as I think it will totally transform the open pump and bring it bang up to date. I have an enginnering co and this is a simple mod to do. john 07725750771.

There are numerous examples on this site of fire appliances in daily front line use by volunteer fire companies which stretch back forty or even fifty years. These are to be found in various countries, and seem to be concentrated mainly in South America - although there are examples in several other countries too.

Most of these are US trucks, and many are of German origin, although there are also some Dutch and Swedish examples. France, Italy and the UK do not however seem to have been as successful building fire trucks which have displayed this level of durability...
