Fire Engines Photos

As this unique photo so clearly shows, the Goddesses do look so much better in red!

I have heard many different explanations why they were dark military green, but they would have been so much more imopressive if they had started out in good old fire engine red......

Then they would have had to find another name for them. Incidentally "Green Goddess" was the name of a stage play in the early 1920s

A type of tramcar in use with Liverpool Corporation up to the 1950's was also known as a 'Green Goddess' and more recently the Actress/TV star Diana Moran also had this nickname owing to her wearing a close fitting green leotard for her exercise videos during the late 70's and 80's!!
