Two London control units The two iconic 'coach' type control / command units once used by the London Fire Brigade were seen in public for the first time when they came together for the Wessex Cancer Fire Engine Run from St Mary's Stadium, Southampton to Paultons Park, Ower on May 10th 2014. I thought that photos and details of these two historic appliances would already be on this site (CU7 Ford R1014 / Willowbrook / Anglo OYT 517R is on 18880) but surprisingly I can't find a shot of BCU1 (Volvo B10M / Spectra R131 KGH supplied to London in 1988 and subsequently transferred by Asset Co to Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Service). I am sure that someone can send in service shots of this appliance in both brigades. It went on E-Bay twice last year and was purchased by Wessex Fire & Rescue at Sopley; it was used by Wessex at this year's Royal Bath and West Show. CU7 is still with Fire-Aid International; I brought it at British Car Auctions, Blackbushe on June 10th 1986 - 28 years ago, that 18 more years that it was with the London Fire Brigade!
