Never a pretty sight, these custom low-profile Iveco-Magirus ladders did achieve a remarkably low overall height. They were originally developed for old German cities with medieval archways and similar obstacles to overcome. The number which were exported was rather limited, and I believe only a handful were sent to the UK.

The later version was much better looking, and equally popular. For some reason, Berlin - which had numerous low profile cab ladders - turned this version down in favor of a Magirus design incorporating a much modified "Club of Four" cab, which was also used by DAF, Renault and Volvo as well as Iveco. One of these from the Berlin fire museum is illustrated on this site, as are a few examples of the later custom version.
