URB 87 Showing the 'Derbyshire' configuration and the slightly taller rear branch locker. I must admit DEE is the only other F8 I have seen with this layout!
Today, 38 years ago, I hired Brett and this machine to take me and my new wife from Coatham Parish Church, Redcar to the reception at the Royal York Hotel, Redcar. At the time I was a Fireman on Red Watch, Stn.4 Redcar, in the then Cleveland County Fire Brigade. I was able to do this as my brother Gordon, now ex RAF Fire Service, knew Brett from the Teesside Fire Engine Rally.
We did not tell anyone at the wedding about this, so I was a big surprise for us to leave the church and find 4 appliances outside the church, with klaxons, sirens and bells sounding. The day shift had brought Redcar's 2 Pumps & TL round to the church. Thanks to Brett, (& Gordon), for making the day so memorable.
