This is the ex-Cheshire Fire Brigade 1987 built machine (E717 SON) that served at Chester then briefly at Warrington before it made its voyage to New Zealand.

Thats not E717 SON as it has too many wheels, but E717 SON was sent out there

this was post rebuild when an additional axle was added to help with weight distribution

Ed: apparently it was originally a demonstrator used by Cheshire.

This IS the former Chester machine actually which did in fact gain an extra axle not long after arriving in N.Z, everything else is pretty much still intact when as the Cheshire ALP including the bumper with the slight bend in it, I don't know if the 2-tones are still behind there, though the lights obviously have been swapped from blue to red. It served at one of the stations in or around Christchurch.
