This is a standard German TLF 16. They came with a 1600 LPM pump and a 2400 liter water tank, had seats for a six-man crew, and usually carried four scaling ladders, an 8 meter extension ladder and a roof ladder. They had a single first aid hose reel, usually inside the lower rear right side locker.

This design of Meredes 1113 chassis was introduced in the early 1960s and stayed in production for around twenty years. The grille design and the roller shutter lockers suggest this example was built in the 1970s or 80s.

The 4X4 TLF was very popular with German volunteer fire companies, who often had quite extensive rural and semi-rural fire response areas, but many cities also bought 4X4 TLFs even for strictly urban use.

The volunteers in Gravenwiesbach replaced this unit in 2004 with a Iveco-Magirus 4X4 2000 LPM water tender with a 2500 liter tank and a nine man cab.

It is second due at structure fires and first due to forest fires on the outskirts of the town.

It is one of three pumpers at the main fire station, along with a command van and a special equipment truck. The other pumpers are a 10/6 light first response pump and an older 4X4 LF16 TS with a portable pump...
