The 8X4 tanker in the foreground is the CCGC, or "high capacity tanker truck", which typically carries 12, 000 liters or more, and is used primarily to replenish smaller off-road pump tankers.

The Canadair really is a very useful tool. I recently saw a video of one extinguishing a truck fire, which ground units still had not reached. It really worked with pinpoint accuracy, and - as afr as I know - nobody on the ground drowned.

awesome pic. I don't know the conditions that would ordinarily let the tanker get that low, except perhaps a range fire, but even if a few yards higher at tree tops (where I'd imagine its most likely to be needed), it still is amazing accuracy and a nice deluge to help out the ground crew in danger.

I saw that pic of the truck fire hit by the air tanker - great use of the rig. I'd have to consider whether a BLEVE would take out a tanker in the air, and judge what kind of chances we'd take vs. the opportunity to massively cool, or smother a tanker/truck fire. Cool stuff.

This is actually a demonstration, hence the proximity of the air tanker.
