"VLHR" on the windscreen means "light off road vehicle", which is a pretty good description of a Land Rover Defender.
In practice, many French fire services use Land Rovers as minor alarm response units, command vehicles, personnel carriers, and equipment and supply transports at those stations which have rural districts with bad or non-existant roads within their response areas. Some are also used, as in the UK, as light off-road firte trucks with either pumps or skid-mounted CAFS installations.
The Range Rover is also occasionally assigned to some fire stations in mountain areas with a custom ambulance body.
